Trauma

If you were directly a victim of a traumatic event or witnessed it happening, the intense fear and helplessness you experience in such a situation can leave deep scars.

Even if you are firmly grounded in your daily life, a traumatic experience can cause a range of symptoms that seriously and negatively impact the rest of your life. Therefore, it is very important to process trauma as thoroughly as possible.

What is a trauma, exactly?

Trauma often occurs when you experience a lot of fear under great pressure in a stressful situation. These are situations where you lose control and no longer have influence over what happens. As a result, you experience extreme fear, which can later lead to many emotional problems.

Traumas can arise from different kinds of events. Causes of trauma can include a car accident, natural disaster, or terrorist attack, but also a robbery, domestic violence, or experiences during military service can be perceived as very traumatic. If these situations aren’t properly processed, they can cause you significant trouble later in everyday life.

When you struggle to process your trauma, you relive the traumatic experience again and again—through vivid flashbacks and/or nightmares. These moments are triggered by something simple like a sound, an image, or even a smell. Sometimes, however, the trigger is less obvious, and the flashbacks seem to come out of nowhere. These moments are often very frightening and stressful because it feels as if you are re-experiencing the traumatic event.

Other symptoms or signs of unprocessed trauma include headaches, dizziness, stomach problems, shivering, and chest pains. Mentally, depression, phobias, and anxieties are also common.

What can you do about it?

If you are dealing with trauma, you may encounter problems in daily life. To cope with them, it is important to process the trauma properly. You can do this with the help of hypnosis and hypnotherapy. These methods help trace the cause(s) of the trauma and flashbacks in your subconscious so that you can work specifically on processing it. The intense moments of re-experiencing your traumatic memory can then become part of the past.

How does it work?

With hypnosis, I can investigate what the (exact) cause of your trauma is. During this hypnotherapy, we ask questions to discover where the problems originate. We then create a plan to tackle these issues. The treatment is fully tailored to your wishes, needs, and especially your symptoms. This way, targeted work can be done on the processing process.

The negative emotions and memories you have are then reprogrammed in your subconscious. This ensures that you no longer have to experience fears or flashbacks. It brings peace and space for further processing of the trauma, so it no longer plays a role in your daily life.
